A Winter Getaway & 80th Birthday Party

Hello Friends! Today’s post won’t be a fashion post, but rather a recap on my recent winter getaway. No I didn’t fly to the tropics to lay on a beach somewhere, instead I flew to Minnesota – one of the coldest states in the USA, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

For the past few years, my sweet daughter in law, who works for a resort in northern Minnesota, has arranged for our entire family to stay in one of the resort’s cabins for a nice long weekend. These “cabins” are actually very nice 4-6 bedroom homes, with 2 queen beds in each bedroom so our whole family can stay together. We just spend the weekend visiting, playing games, shopping in the local tourist shops, eating good food and drinking wine. The guys and the kids are a little more adventerous and will ice fish, sled or ski, work out at the gym and go to the arcade and bounce house.

This year, we were fortunate to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. She is the most active 80 year old that I know, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon! In fact, she is working on renovating a home to get it ready to sell.

Here are some scenes from the weekend. This is my younger sister Jennifer, with Mom and her husband Norm.

Here’s Mom again. She is just as beautiful on the inside.

This is my grandson Roman with my brother in law, Jonathan.

My grandson Roman ice fishing on Saturday. It was about 0 degrees that day. As you can see, he’s well bundled.

A trip to Minnesota isn’t complete without a trip to Mall of America. We were there during Super Bowl Weekend, you can see the NFL team flags in the background.

It was a great weekend, and one of my favorite things to do in the winter!

    1. Thanks, Ellie! The day Roman ice fished it was sooo cold. But he was a trooper, even though he didn’t catch anything!
