Blue Tie-Sleeve Sweater & My Best Tips For Keeping My Weight In Check

I have to admit, I have about 10 pounds to lose after this holiday season, I like my weight to stay at about 140 – that’s where I feel the best. On January 1 when I stepped on the scale, I was 151.2. I am 5’6”.  My clothes are a little tight, and I feel bloated from all the holiday goodies I have consumed for the last month.

About 15 years ago, I lost about 20 pounds on the Atkins diet. For me, eating low carb and staying away from flour and sugar products is the easiest, fastest way to lose weight. I feel so much better on low carb too. I lose the bloated feeling, and I have energy.

The first 3 days doing low carb is the hardest part. It takes about 3 days for your body to lose the addiction to sugar. If you can last 3 days without cheating (staying under 20-30 carbs a day), you’re home free! It is much easier after that, and your energy level will go way up.

After two weeks, you can gradually increase the amount of carbs you eat, adding good carbs, including a few fruits, more vegetables and nuts.

This may not work for everyone, but I find that it’s the best choice for me.

My second tip for keeping my weight down is to get on the scale daily! I know most diets say do not weigh yourself everyday, but I have found that if I weigh myself every single morning before I get in the shower, and write it down, I can tell immediately if the scale is going up, and I will do something about it right away. I keep a calendar in my bathroom with my daily weights dating back to 2011. Haha! Since I have done this, my weight has stayed within 10 pounds of my ideal weight.

This blue tie sleeve sweater is from Nordstrom this winter. I just checked and it is sold out. I love the tie sleeves on this sweater, but my favorite feature is the high-low hem. Here and here are a couple similar choices.

This one is a couple years old from Target, but this one would look cute with the outfit.

It is supposed to warm up this weekend into the mid 30s. Hooray! It’s 20 below where my son lives in Minnesota – stay warm everyone and have a great weekend!

  1. I have also overdone it over the two month holiday period. Wednesday night I ordered The 21 Day Sugar Detox Diet. I have a lifetime sugar addiction. For general health I need to tackle this. Right now, I’m at my nine months pregnant weight – 126. I’m 5’5 1/2”. I feel best at 118. We ate strict paleo for four months two years ago. I never felt better. Lost 15 lbs down to 104. Big mistake! Saggy face and clothes hung on me. I just want to lose back to my feel good size. I love that sweater! Warming up in TX this next week! Near 70! Come on spring!

    1. Yes, we all have a weight that we feel best at. As I age, luckily, the weight goes up just a bit for me. Have a great day and stay warm. Oddly enough is has been in the 40s here, when the rest of the country is freezing!

  2. I love your sweater and tree! Very pretty. About 15 years ago I too lost about 20 lbs. I used the online weight watchers app and lost 10 lbs in one month and the rest of over several months. I think it is key to find what works for you. Since then I never let myself get more than 2-3 lbs over my limit. It seems a constant battle though because I love food. Great post!
