Velour Off The Shoulder Holiday Dress

I don’t know about you, but I love to dress up for Christmas. When I was a little girl, my mom made all our clothes for my three sisters and I. She was a talented seamstress and every Christmas and Easter we each were gifted with beautiful Christmas and Easter dresses. We would wear these for our Sunday School Christmas program and for Christmas Eve at my grandparents. For Christmas, they were usually made with velvet or velveteen. She would always add something special, like lace or beautiful ribbon, or pretty rosettes, depending on the pattern. We always got new tights and patent leather shoes to go with our new outfits, and sometimes she would make ribbons for our hair to match. Such good memories!

This summer our local Herbergers store went out of business. They were having tremendous sales, and I found this burgundy velour off the shoulder dress on the clearance rack for 90% off. It was my size, and I snagged it without even trying it on. I think it ended up being around $9.00, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong. The brand is Calvin Klein. I don’t see them available anymore online, however I did find a couple on Poshmark and Ebay in various sizes. I did find some similar velvet off the shoulder dresses that you may be interested in, and I have linked them below.

I wore this dress two days – one with my new over the knee boots and one with tights and black heels. My boots are these boots by Steve Madden. They fit over the knee, and despite having a pointed toe, they are extremely comfortable. I highly recommend them! They have a 2″ block heel which makes them easy to walk in.

For accessories, I just added a pair of sparkly hoops and a sparkly gold clutch. Neither are available but I have linked some cute options below.

  1. Love the darling picture of you and your sister, your mother is quite the seamstress. It’s nice to have such great memories. My mom sewed a lot of my clothes too. It is kind of a lost art. The velour dress you are wearing is very classy, you look stunning Your house looks so festive and the large ornaments look great on your tree. I love your blog!
